"Young George Shoup, son of Henry Shoup of Republic County Kansas died last Sunday morning at 1 o'clock of scarlet fever at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Cottam in the east part of town. He had been here a few days visiting relatives when he was taken sick and died. His body was taken to Maple Grove, Kansas, Sunday afternoon for internment."
