A Memorial Mass for Eileen A. Taylor, 87, Lawrence, Kan., will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center. Inurnment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Ft. Leavenworth Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan. Mrs. Taylor died on Friday, November 2, 2007, at Windsor of Lawrence.
She was born on March 12, 1920, in Holdingford, Minn., the daughter of Alois and Bernadine Bernolken Abeln. She had lived in Leawood, Kan., for many years before moving to Lawrence in 1998. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker. She had been trained and formerly worked as a registered nurse. She was a graduate of the St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, DC and had been presented her diploma by then, First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt.
She was married to Francis J. "Frank" Taylor on Sept. 19, 1942, in Hanover, Md. He survives of the home. Other survivors include four daughters, Susan Johnston and Jean Volz, both of St. Augustine, Fla., MaryLou Taylor of Boise, Idaho, Nancy Flavin of Lawrence; a brother, William Abeln of Sartell, Minn.; two sisters, Eva Rangel of Sacramento, Calif., Anne Robison of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great- great grandchild.
