Henry is the son of Charles Cox. Henry was a Shoe Maker and a Farmer. Henry came to the US around 1854. Henry married Margaret A. Riley from Ireland. They had 7 kids (4 boys & 3 girls). He first made his home in Connerville, Fayette, Indiana then later moved to Washington, Buchanan, Missouri (Now St. Joseph, Missouri).
His nephew Oliver George Cox came to live with him. Henry built him and his family a little house on the west slope of his farm in the mid to late 1890's.
