GOWRIE — Charles T. (Chuck) Brandel, age 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Taylor House Hospice, Des Moines.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Reading Township Cemetery, Farnhamville, with Military Rites by American Legion Peterson Post No. 431 of Gowrie. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie.

Survivors include sons, Chuck Brandel, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Lonnie W. Brandel and his wife Carol of Ankeny, daughter Linda Smith and her husband Phil of Fort Dodge, son, Kurt Brandel and his wife Billie of Seattle, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Hardaway and her husband Tom of Lohrville, Thelma Dudley of Coon Rapids, Minn., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wenzel and Elizabeth (Rushton) Brandel, wife, Gladys Jo Brandel, and Brother, Donald Brandel.

Charles T. Brandel was born on Dec. 24, 1929, at Rinard, Iowa, where he attended country schools. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1970, including World War II, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam War. He served as a Gowrie Policeman.

Chuck was a member of the American Legion Peterson Post No. 431 of Gowrie.
