Charles W. Averill
WEISER - Charles W. Averill 76, Weiser, formerly of Council died Sunday at a Weiser hospital.
Mr. Averill was born Feb. 16, 1895, at Lane, Kan., the son of Bethel P. and Mary Elizabeth Averill. He was a grandson of Thomas Chancellor Averill, a famous Quaker minister in Kansas. At the age of 11 he moved to Thurman, Idaho, with his family. He and his brother James purchased a ranch on the Snake River close to Hammett. He married Mildred Saxton, May 24, 1931, at Mountain Home. He lived in Elmore County for 40 years. In 1945 he sold the Hammett ranch and purchased a stock ranch at Council where the family lived until his retirement in 1970. He had engaged in livestock raising all his adult life.
He was a past master of the Hammett Grange; 25-year-member of the of the Council Valley Grange; member of the Haas Grange in Weiser; and attended the Church of the Redeemer.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Weiser; a son, James E. Averill, Great Falls, Mont.; three daughters; Mrs. Elve Mosier, Victor, Idaho, and Mrs.. R. L. (Opal) Fisk and Mrs. Frank (Alma) Marvin, both of Boise; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Northern-Jones Chapel by the Rev. David G. Glauner. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery at Council.
