Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Callaway-Smith Chapel for Mrs. Bernice Lee Grigsby Bailey, 22, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Grigsby, Star Route. The Rev. R. L. McClung, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Mrs. Bailey died in a local hospital Wednesday morning after an illness of three months.
Previous to her marriage to J. W. Bailey on January 31, 1944, Bernice Grigsby graduated from Bray High School in 1943 where she was active in sports and was a member of the basketball team. At one time she was employed at the City Café. When she became ill she was chief clerk at the Health Department Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Curtis Bailey, four years of age; her parents, Louis and Nellie Grigsby; four sisters, Lena Pruette, Lubbock, Texas, Mona Coursey of Fillmore, California, Edith Hatch, Paoli, Oklahoma, and Irene Wilkerson, Carlsbad, New Mexico; four brothers, Fielding L. Grigsby of Ryan, Oklahoma, L. P. Grigsby, US Navy, William D. Grigsby, US Air Force, and John Grigsby of the home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery.
