Marlow - C. T. ABNEY, 82, of Marlow, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, in Duncan.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Dr. Joe Ligon and the Rev. Gene Jorgenson officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
C.T. was born May 19, 1925, in Marlow, to B.G. Abney and Annie E. Choat Abney. He attended school in Marlow. He had been a Stephens County resident all of his life.
C.T. married Clara Joyce Herriage on June 17, 1950, in Lawton. He worked for the City of Marlow as the Street Department Superintendent and City Administrator for 19-1/2 years, and he was also a rancher.
C.T. loved to travel and camp. He also loved to work on his cattle ranch and play dominoes. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Marlow.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Abney of the home; two daughters, Shirley J. Myers and husband Earl of Wylie, Texas, and Montie G. Schneider and husband Tim of Hondo, Texas; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Abney; his parents; four brothers, Marshall Abney, Willie Abney, Buster W. Abney and Frank Abney; and three sisters, Beulah Thomas, Victoria Abney and Bertha Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Jason Miller, Ken Myers, Michael Rollin, James Smith, Michael Schneider and Tom Travis.
Honorary pallbearers are Harry Callaway, Mac Vincent and Melvin Kiser.
