AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Ray Walden, 70, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Orander Walden, entered into rest on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Billy Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Scott and Taddy Widener, Walter Lancaster, Vance and Brandon Anderson, and John Woods. Mr. Walden was preceded in death by his siblings, Tunnie Walden, Mildred Jenkins, and Johnny Anderson. Other survivors include his sons, Royce Blackston (Susan) of Martinez and Joel Walden of Augusta; daughter, Lisa Harris (Greg) of Evans; brothers, Reverend Herman Walden and Reverend Therman Walden both of Hephzibah, Macon Walden, Jr. of Louisville, Ga., and Bennie Walden of Gibson, Ga.; sisters, Ruth Searcy of Straughn, Ind., Frankie Lamb and Mary Huff both of Augusta; grandchildren, Angela Blackston, Elaine Blackston, Brittany Blackston, Gil Harris, Abigail Harris, and Isabella Carter. Mr. Walden was the son of the late Macon and Lucy Swint Walden, Sr. He was a native of Gibson and had made Augusta his home all of his adult life. Mr. Walden had served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Fleming Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, October 29, 2007 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Rd., Augusta, Ga. 30906.
