Jim Aalfs was born on Tuesday; November 10, 1942 in Aplington; Butler County, Iowa. Jim was the son of Jake and Angeline (Kuiper) Aalfs. He graduated from the Wellsburg High School in Wellsburg; Grundy County, Iowa. Jim served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. On Saturday; July 22, 1967 he was united in marriage to Ernestine Cook in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. They resided in Melbourne; Marshall County, Iowa until moving to Conrad; Grundy County, Iowa in 1971. Mr. Aalfs was employed at Swift's for 26 years, did farm help for seven years and worked at Mid-Iowa Co-Op for the past seven years while also raising feeder pigs on the family farm on highway #14. He and Ernestine moved into Conrad in 1995. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa and the Conrad American Legion. Jim will be fondly remembered for his love of family, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, hunting, bowling, the outdoors, following his boy's sport activities and his faith. He will be greatly missed by many. Jim Aalfs, 64, of Conrad, Iowa passed away on Saturday evening; October 27, 2007 at the Covenant Hospital in Waterloo; Black Hawk County, Iowa while in the care of his family and the Cedar Valley Hospice. Those left to mourn his passing are: His loving wife of 40 years: Ernestine. His two sons: Jim W. Jr.& his wife: Kara Aalfs of Saint Charles; Kane County, Illinois and Rick & his wife: Paula Aalfs of Marshalltown, Iowa. His four grandchildren: Kelsey, Kiersten, Brooke and Jacob, his sisters: Judy (Lee) Reibkes of Wellsburg; Grundy County, Iowa and Janet & her husband: Dan Wieberdink of Andover; Anoka County, Minnesota. Also several nieces, nephews, the Cook family and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and brothers: John and Joe. May they rest in peace.
