Surviving are three children, J. Michael (Susan) Adams of Morristown, N.J., and Mary Carla Grube and Drew Adams, both of Peoria; three grandchildren, Benjamin Adams of Philadelphia, Pa., Jennifer Grube of Chicago and Lisa Nutter of Tucson, Ariz.; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Erwin Saal; and one sister, Helen McGrath.
Mary Lou was a writer for the Peoria Times Observer, last working as a freelance writer. She also taught art classes at Lakeview, where she sold many pieces of art.
She attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and Rosewood Care Center.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
