Jane Elizabeth Alley, 62, died at her home in Afton, (Nelson County), on Monday, October 22, 2007, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 8, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Dennett M. Truslow and Elizabeth W. Fitzgerald Truslow.

Jane assumed the responsibilities of raising her two younger sisters at a very young age after the passing of her mother in 1960.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a caring and giving person for all of those in her life.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Stanley Alley on September 15, 2007, and an infant son on May 6, 1969.

Surviving Jane are her children, Wanda Jane Powers and her husband, Rickey, of Afton, James Stanley Alley Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Stuarts Draft; her grandchildren, April Marie Powers and Rickey Eugene Powers Jr. of Afton; two sisters, Deborah Jean Dohoghue and her husband, George, of Baltimore, Maryland, Karen Ann Weaver and her husband, Steve, of Joppatown, Maryland; three brothers, Grover Milton Truslow and Ricki Reith of Schuyler, Dennis Edward Truslow and his wife, Paullette of Lisbon, Maryland, and Charles Edward Truslow and his wife, Barbara, of Afton and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held noon on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the Alley family cemetery at the home of her daughter and son-in -law with the Reverend Raymond Sullivan officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the funeral home.
