Mary was the daughter of William Livingston and Elizabeth Young. She married Sidney Maynard on 22 December 1860 in Benton Co, Iowa. They were the parents of Harriet E #73543188 (1870, Horace Spencer #136125052), Dora B (Peter Brown), Cora (Hittenmark), Alice Nellie #143773179 (1879, George H McKay, North Dakota).

Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - Jan 21, 1910 - Mrs Mary J Maynard was born in Oswego, NY March 25, 1841. She moved to Wayland 20 years later. She was married to S.S. Maynard in 1861. Later they move to Alta, Iowa where Mr Maynard died in 1892.

Since that time she has made her home with her daughters, four of whom survive: Mrs O.F. Hittenmark of Pomeroy; Mrs Geo W McKap of Eugene, OR; Mrs J.P. McNeill of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Mrs H.M. Spencer of Minneapolis, MN at which place she died Monday Jan 10, 1910 of heart trouble complicated with pneumonia.

The funeral services were held at the home of Mr and Mrs H.M. Spencer 2925 Lyndale avenue, Minneapolis Tuesday afternoon after which the body accompanied by Mr and Mrs Hittenmark and Mrs Hittenmark and Mrs Spencer was taken to Storm Lake via Fort Dodge, where they were joined by Mr and Mrs McNeil. At Pomeroy they were joined by Rev Huber, pastor of the Presbyterian church who held a short service at the Storm lake undertaking parlor before burial.

Mrs Maynard was a woman loved by all. Four daughters and 6 grandchildren are left to mourn the loss of a loved mother. She was buried beside her husband in the Storm Lake cemetery Wednesday morning Jan 12.
