Louis A. Kohlrus, 94, of Springfield died Monday at St. Joseph's Home. He was born Dec. 17, 1901, in Essen, Germany, the son of Joseph and Theresa Hoffman Kohlrus. He married Nellie A. Laughlin in Springfield in 1937; she preceded him in death in 1980.

Mr. Kohlrus was formerly employed by the Illinois Foundry and Swift and Co. He joined his father in the grocery business at Kohlrus and Son Grocers in the early 1930s and later joined his brothers in starting Kohlrus Catering in 1969. He retired in 1985. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Knights of Columbus Council 4175, St. Vincent DePaul Society, former member of the Eagles Lodge and served as former president of St. Joseph's Church Holy Name Society.

Survivors: a son; four daughters; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

Services: Mass, St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Patrick Render CSV officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
