Frederick Schaffer was born in Heidelberg, Germany. He traveled to England where he bought passage for America on Captain Bogg's ship. He landed at Savannah, Ga, and on March 7, 1750, was granted fifty acres(indicating that he was unmarried at the time)between Broad and Saluda Rivers in S.C.

About 1761 he married Maria Elizabeth and they had four children: three daughters and one son.
He served in the American Revolution War in South Carolina. He died May 10, 1786 in S.C.....and he was my 5th great grandfather.
