Retired Farmer Fatally Burned
Special to the Courier Journal
MADISON, Ind.--A 71-year-old Madison man died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at General Hospital in Louisville after having been severely burned in an explosion at his home here.
Jefferson County (Ky.) Coroner Lloyd Roemele said Hobart Harsin, a retired farmer from Trimble County, Ky., died as a result of third-degree burns over 40 per cent of his body.
Police said it was probable that Harsin, who used a wheelchair, accidentally knocked over a heater at his home, causing the explosion.
Harsin, who was a member of the Milton (Ky.) Baptist Church, is survived by six sons, Thurman and Robert Harsin, both of Madison, Alvin Harsin of Louisville, Alton and Norman Harsin, both of the state of Utah, and Jack Harsin, of Carrollton, Ky., and two daughters, Mrs. Reba Buchanan, of Fort Thomas, Ky., and Miss Ann Harsin, of Utah.
the funeral will be at 10 a.m. EST Wednesday at the Wood & Oakley Funeral Home, Milton, with burial in Moffett Cemetery near there.
