Russell Durward Monie, age 79 of Park Hills, MO passed away February 27, 2005 at NHC Health Care. He was born December 07, 1925 in Marquand, MO to Arthur Valroy Monie and Carrie Mae Rauls Monie.

His parents preceded him in death. His first wife, Margaurite E. Forsyth Monie, died on October 26, 1993. Russell and Margaurite were married on October 14, 1948 by the Rev. Sylvester Andrew Hand of Fredericktown, MO.

Mr. Monie is survived by his second wife, Juanita, along with two sons, four grandsons and three great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Anna Marie Combs (Willard), Roseda Mouser (Elmer), Kathryn Kaehr, Glenn (Evelyn) and Edward (Lila). Many other family members and friends survive.

Mr. Monie served in the Navy during World War II and retired as a machinist from McDonnell-Douglas in 1984. He was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church of Park Hills.

Mr. Monie was an accomplished woodworker who excelled in making cabinets, cradles and kaleidoscopes. Trains, both real and models, held a life-long fascination for him. His house building experience began at an early age when he helped his father construct the family home in Marquand and continued with his current home. In retirement, he had a small machinery business. His sons and their families were his greatest joy; he never missed a chance to visit with them.

A lasting legacy of Mr. Monie's death was family estrangement.

Visitation will be at Horton-Wampler Funeral Home after 3:30PM Monday. Services will be Tuesday at 11AM at Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Hillview Cemetery, Farmington, MO.
