Lillian Lois Reed Alford, 89, and a native of Grapevine, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home in Covington on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007. Mrs. Alford, a former longtime resident of Baker and Baton Rouge, was best known for her role as "The Boss" of Alford Safe and Lock Co.

Preceded in death by her husband, William Edgar Alford; grandson, Brodie Joe Alford; and great-grandson, Benjamin Reagan Hisaw.

Survivors include her sisters, Mary Carr and Georgia Pool, both of Arlington, Texas; children, Reed Alford, Dianna Alford and Gary Alford; grandchildren, John Alford, Brian Hisaw, Courtenay Hisaw and Jacqueline Alford; great-granddaughter, Taylor Sweeney; and her canine friend cocker spaniel, Lecie Lady Alford.

She will forever be remembered for her tireless work ethic, her love of reading and bits of wisdom such as "This too shall pass," "We are where we are" and "You'll live til' you die."
