Succumbs at Ava
William Newton Welch, 88, retired farmer of Ava, and a former resident of Longrun, died last Wednesday at the Burchell Hotel there. He was born Dec. 4, 1877 at Longrun, a son of William Edward and Rebecca Margaret Gilliland Welch.
Survivors include four sons, Walter Cleo Welch of Thornfield, Joseph Edward Welch, address unknown, Palmer Welch of Hutchison, Kan., Etsel Eugene Welch of Silver Lake, Kan.; three daughter, Mrs. Allie Rae Gray of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Nellie Juanita Sallee, Longrun, and Mrs. Jessie Marie Lee of Wichita, Kan.
The funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Longrun Baptist church and the burial was in the Welch cemetery near there.
William Newton was married to Millie Harriet Melton on Mar. 4, 1906 at Igo, Ozark Co. Mo.
