G. E. Engineer Dies Suddenly
C. J. Axtell, 55, 258 W. 6th St. an engineer at the General Electric Company for many years, died suddenly Friday afternoon from a heart attack, suffered while in his office. His death was not discovered until Mrs. Eckert, his secretary, entered the office.
Mr. Axtell came to Erie from Schenectady, New York, a number of years ago. He was one of the foremost locomotive control engineers in the country and was well known for many electrical improvements. He recently returned from Europe where he was investigating new developments in England. He was president of the University Club and a member of the Lawrence Park Golf Club.
Funeral arrangements, in charge of Donald C. Burton Funeral Home 10th and Cherry Street, have not been completed.

The following is from Carol Strayer's research. Clinton is the son of Jesse & Emeline (Shangle) Axtell.
He married Anna F Rothwell on 14 February 1911 and they had no children.
