Mr. Wurtz died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1992, at his home.
He was born March 20, 1914, in Knob Noster, to Benjamin Franklin and Martha Irwin Wurtz. He lived in Fort Scott, Kan., and worked as a foreman for the coal mine in La Cygne, Kan., before moving to the Kansas City area 45 years ago. He was a laborer for the Cirese Investment Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1976.
Mr. Wurtz was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in the cavalry. He was a member of the Metro Vineyard Fellowship of Kansas City.
He married Gladys Simpson 52 years ago. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, William Franklin Wurtz, and a daughter, Ada Greeley, both of Kansas City; nine brothers, Roy, Glade, Kan., Albert, Eudora, Kan., Rosco, Lakeland, Fla., Lester and Ollie, Nampa, Idaho, Ervin, Independence, Willie, Pleasanton, Kan., Bob, Winter Haven, Fla., and Virgil, Olathe, Kan.; seven sisters, Ethel Williams, Kansas City, Hazel Clendening and Thelma Marquardt, Fort Scott, Kan., Ruth Howery, Tipton, Ind., Florence Smith, Farlington, Kan., and Lillie Mae Jackson and Rosella Clemens, Pleasanton, Kan.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
