Visitation for Lyle C. Benedict, 96, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Mount St. Michael Catholic Church, with funeral Mass Monday at 8 a.m. at the church.
Burial will follow at Mount St. Michael Cemetery.
Mr. Benedict, who was born in Canton, S.D., died Tuesday.
He graduated from Rogers High School and had lived in Spokane for more than 80 years.
He sang in many theatrical productions on the East Coast when he was young and also performed locally in churches and theater performances.
He and his wife, Irene, operated a laundry in Spokane for many years Post Office.
He wrote a book on the history of Bull River at Fort Steele, British Columbia, where his parents and family homesteaded.
He and his wife also spent many years at their second home on Priest Lake, Idaho.
His wife, Irene, preceded him in death.
Mr. Benedict is survived by a daughter, Virginia Stott of California; and a granddaughter.
