Born in Montana, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Thomas and Zubie Shoeffler. She lived in Arkansas until the age of five when her family moved to Moore. She married Robert Blackwell on Feb. 3, 1923, in Oklahoma City, and they made their home in Calvin. They moved to California for a short time before they settled back in Calvin. She was active in the community, serving as a volunteer in her church and the local senior citizen center. Her efforts at volunteering were recognized with an award by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. She was a longtime member of the Calvin Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crochet. She died in Holdenville at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; two sisters and her three children, Lewis Blackwell, Bob Blackwell and Peggy Blackwell Thompson.
