Gene Padilla, age 30, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., and a former resident of Serafina, N.M. passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007.
He was born on April 24, 1977, in Santa Fe, N.M., to Ted Padilla and Lorraine Guadalupe Ortiz.
He was employed as a stone mason and he was also a construction worker. He loved being outdoors and loved fishing and camping.
He is survived by his son: Dominic Pacheco of Taos N.M., father: Ted Padilla and wife Geri of Santa Fe, mother: Lorraine Ortiz and special friend Andenago Hernandez of Bernal, N.M.; fianc/: Miquella Leyba of Las Vegas, N.M., brothers: Teddy Padilla and wife Germaine of Santa Fe, and Paul Padilla and wife Margaret of Taos, sister: Christina Padilla and husband Gabriel Rivera of Bernal, stepbrother: Adam Santana; stepsister and very special friend: Monica Santana; nieces and nephews: Fabian Padilla, George Padilla, Teddie Padilla, Stevie Ray Padilla, Shantell Chavez, Delidah Padilla, Brookie Padilla, Anthony Padilla, Mariah Padilla and Elizabeth Padilla; special nephew: baby Gabriel Rivera; and numerous close relatives and friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted this evening at 7 at the Rogers Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Rita Church in Bernal. Interment will follow at the Bernal Cemetery in Bernal with the following as casket bearers: Sammy Sandoval, Robert Marquez, Larry Gonzales, Adam Santana, Carlos Rodriquez, Garson Salas, Tony Martinez and Gabriel Rivera.
Serving as honorary bearers will be: Fabian Padilla, Georgie Padilla and Gabriel Rivera, Jr.
