NEW HOPE - Joseph Myers Early, 91, of New Hope and a retired farmer, died Sunday afternoon (Nov. 23, 1969) at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

A son of the Rev. Abram B. and Hannah Mary (Myers) Early he was born March 25, 1878 in Augusta County, and with the exception of eight years residence in Waynesboro, he had spent the majority of his life in New Hope.

He was a member of the Middle River Church of the Brethren and was a charter and honorary member of the New Hope Ruritan Club.

On Oct. 30, 1907 he married Miss Mary Leonard who survives. Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Joseph Leonard Early of New Hope; three daughters; Miss Hannah Early of Baltimore, Mrs. Charles Ramsburg of Berryville and Mrs. George Coyner of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was the surviving member of a family of four children.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning from Middle River Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Fred Driver will conduct the services assisted by the Rev. F. Y. Garber, and burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Lindsey and Koontz Funeral Home at Weyers Cave where friends may call, but the family will receive friends at the residence.

The body will be taken to the church to remain for an hour prior to the services, and relatives will meet at the residence at 10:40 Wednesday prior to leaving for the church.
