One of Osceola County best known pioneers, cattle ranchers and politicians. He served in the Florida State House of Rep in 1891, as well as the Florida Legislature, county tax collector, county commissioner and notary. All But 4 Years of Life Spent in Kissimmee and Shingle Creek

He is the son of Henry Overstreet, grandson Daniel Overstreet and grandson of Lewis Cowart who fought in the American Rev.War.

He came with his family in 1856 from Swainsboro Ga. He was the 6th of 12 children. Siblings were James, Malcom, John, William, George, Henry, Annie, Vianah (Yates) Elimnah (McLaughlin) Lucinda (Bronson) and Hennie (Lightsey)

He was married first to Vianna "Spicy" Reaves 12/26/1872 then to Sarah Overstreet who attended him until his death.

His children are: Malcom, Mary (Dill Summerlin), Vida (Bronson), Annie (Tyner), Gertrude (Miller), Lucretia (Stremlow), Lennie (Crews), Martha (Donnelly), Henry L and Roll.

He is grandfather to Irlo Overstreet Bronson (Florida Senate)and great grandfather to Irlo "Bud" Bronson Jr. (Florida State House of Rep.)


Per his obituary:
Mr. Overstreet's two sons, Henry L. Overstreet and Roll L. Overstreet, died several years ago, leaving one son, Malcom. He is also survived by seven daughters; Mrs. Sam Summerlin, Mrs. George Bronson, Mrs. Lin Tyner, of Kissimmee; Mrs. Gertrude Miller, of Interlachen; Mrs. Lucretia Strimlow of Haines City; Mrs. Reuben Crews of Pahokee; and Mrs. W. H. Donnely of Winter Haven. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
