There is conflicting historical information regarding this memorial, all of which will be presented here. Jesse Herrin, Sr (1800-1890) can be found on an 1880 census (he was 79) living with his son Thomas(he was 41). Thomas's wife, Amelia had just died in April. She is buried next to Jesse Herrin Sr. and Celia Herrin in Old Silvey Cemetery.
There is a large family photo from the 1903 birthday party of Jesse H. Herrin (1838-1906). Jesse's son Fernando and brother Thomas are both in the photo. Permelia Russell Herrin is also in the photo sitting next to Jesse H. Herrin.
There is also a handwritten 1978 letter written by by Elsie May Herrin Hooten (memorial 60244520) to Elizabeth Lucinda "Bessie" Herrin in which she calls by name her grandparents (Jesse H and Permilia) and also her great grandparents (Jesse and Celia).
