Floyd J. Purser
Age 84, Snyder - Graveside service will be at 10:30 am Friday in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder, with J. Stephen Posey, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Snyder officiating.
Mr. Purser died Tuesday at his home.
Inurnment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.
He was born June 7, 1923 in Ada, Oklahoma to Floyd and Elba Nile (Fraley) Purser. He served in the US Army during WW II, and was held prisoner in Germany for eighteen months. He married Mildred Brutton on October 2, 1943 in Mississippi. She died February 19, 1996. He then married Kathern Tabb on May 18, 1998 in Vernon, TX.
Survivors include his wife Kathern of the home, three children, Keith and wife Velma Purser of Folsom, CA, Harold Wayne Purser of Snyder, and Pamela Mawhinney and husband Bill of San Jose, CA. Two sisters, Betty Regan of Arlington, TX, Lorene Messick of Snyder, four grandchildren, Lisa Jenner of Folsom, CA, Torey Purser of Crawfordville, FL, Mike Coleman of San Jose, CA, Melissa Mawhinney of San Jose, CA, six great-grandchildren, Hannah Purser, Gavin Purser, Bradley Jenner, Matthew Jenner, Brandy Coleman and Joseph Coleman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and by his wife's children Larry Smidt and Lorraine Smidt-Walker of Adel, IA and her granddaughter Farah and husband Paul Melmud of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, three brothers, four sisters and his grandchild, Chaun Mawhinney.
