Chester G. Abernathy

A retired logger and farmer, Chester G. Abernathy, 82, died Monday, June 10, 1996, at his home.
He was born Nov. 10, 1913, in Nisland, S.D., and had lived in the area for 55 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy, at home; two daughters, Fran Gillette and Linda E. Kysar, both of Yacolt; five sons, Mark of Story, Wyo., Stanly of Kalispell, Mont., and Jack, Lyle and Keith, all of Yacolt; one sister, Pearl Rotschy of Yacolt; 36 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Abernathy was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and enjoyed writing poems, going to garage sales, gardening, antiques and workhorses.
A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16603 N.E. 142nd Ave., with burial at Elim Cemetery, both in Brush Prairie. A reception will follow committal at the north Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 32320 N.E. Lewisville Highway.
The casket will be open from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground.
