Beverly was born in West Farmington, ME the daughter of Roland V. and Algie A. (Masterman) Plaisted.

Ernest L. "Ernie" Packard, of Norway, ME and Valrico, FL died peacefully at LifePath Hospice and Palliative Care at Sun City, Ruskin, FL where he had resided for 11 days, with his beloved wife, Beverly at his side. On September 11, 2007, on the 59th anniversary of their wedding, Beverly "Bev" (Plaisted) Packard, passed on at Tampa General Hospital and joined Ernest to celebrate together, for eternity.

Ernest, the youngest of 12 children born to James Henry and Hazel Ione (Jordan) Packard, was born "at the farm" in Sumner, Maine.

Mr. Packard was educated in West Paris schools and, after his military service, earned his graduate education high school diploma. He served in Company K, 34th Regiment of the US Army, and was a member of the Army of Occupation in Japan. Mr. Packard was a member of the Mundt-Allen Post #81 of the American Legion (Bethel, ME). However, he was the most proud of the World War II military service of five of his brothers and especially grateful for their safe return. That their contributions never be forgotten, he spoke often of the WWII service of brothers George (US Marines, Iwo Jima), Malcolm "Mac" (US Army, South Pacific), Carroll (US Air Force, England), Ralph (US Navy, South Pacific), and Frank (Merchant Marines, Atlantic).

He was a Past Master of Jefferson Lodge #100 A.F. & A.M., Woodstock, ME , and in July 2007 was presented his 50-year membership pin by his son Roland. Ernest was a member of The Androscoggin Valley, Lewiston, ME, and Portland Consistory, Portland, ME, of the Scottish Rite for 47 years and the Kora Shrine, Lewiston, ME and the Brandon Shrine Club, Brandon, FL. He was a member and Past-President of the Oxford County (ME) Shrine Club and as a member of the Oxford County Funsters Clown Unit he participated in numerous Shrine and municipal parades in New England as a happy mini-bike clown.

Beverly, a graduate of Farmington High School, was employed by Hamilton O. Cornwall from the age of 12 until her retirement in 1978. She had supervised or managed many aspects of production at facilities of Cornwall Wood Products in South Paris, Norway, Oxford, and West Buxton, ME.

Both Ernest and Bev were baseball fans. He coached many Woodstock (ME) area youth in Little League teams of the 1960s and they took Little Leaguers to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox play in person. To their delight, the Red Sox won the World Series in 2005.

Ernest retired in 1987 as a Maintenance Supervisor after 39 years of service to Boise Cascade Paper Group "to play golf with Bev." Bev and Ernest were members of the Norway (ME) and Diamond Hill (Valrico, FL) Country Clubs where she worked in the pro shops and he was a ranger and a starter. Bev was a member of the State of Maine Women's Golf Association and Ernest was a member of the New Hampshire Senior Golfer's Association. One of his proudest moments as President of the Norway Country Club was presenting Bev with the "President's Cup Trophy."

Beverly and Ernest will both be remembered for their love for one another, their family, and their friends and for their compassion and empathy for others. Ernest will be especially remembered for his quick wit; he never lost his sense of humor. Beverly will be especially remembered for her directions to anywhere based upon which country club(s) would be passed along the way!

Mr. and Mrs. Packard are survived by sons Roland S. and his wife Mary Anne (Greenfield, MA) and Frank H. (Las Vegas, NV), and daughter Gayle P. Russell and her husband Thomas J. (Bryant Pond, ME and Valrico, FL); grandchildren, Diane M. Russell (Washington, D.C.), Fawne E. Sanford and her husband Austin (Fort Campbell, KY), and Alan T.
