Age 65. Passed away Saturday, August 13, 1994, at his residence, Mr. Bartz was born September 12, 1928, in Racine and was a lifelong resident. He was married to Roberta (Bobbie) in Racine on June 14, 1987. Mr. Bartz was a teacher at Racine Luthean High School for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He taught History, Government, English and Religon. He is a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and held various offices at each Church. Mr. Bartz is survived by his wife Roberta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott (Roseann) Bartz of Racine, and Paul Bartz of Milwaukee; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela (Michael) Thorney of Kenosha; step-daughter, Dawn Marie and Samuel Donahue of Kenosha, three grandchildren, Jennifer Tabor, Shawn Donahue and Roberta Donahue; sister and brother-in-law Grace (Earl) Rosenske of Racine; brother and sister-in-law, William and Esther Bartz of Milwaukee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Michel and Robert Martin of Rochester, Minn. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Herman and Ruth (Stoffel) Bartz and a niece, Marilyn Bartz. Funeral services for Mr. Bartz will be held on Tuesday evening, August 16, 1994, at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3350 Lathrop Ave., with Rev. Karl Luchterhand officiating. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Tuesday evening from 4 p.m. until the time of services at the Church. Memorial to Hospice Alliance or the James Bartz Memorial Chapel Fund at Racine Lutheran High School.
