John Ivy Barnett, was the son of John Franklin and Mary Jane (Reynolds) BARNETT. Their children and his siblings: Luvada (Lu) Turney; Robert Lee; Susan Ellen Montgomery; Sarah (Sallie) Timmons; and Ida Jane Inman Dilbeck, his twin sister. He married first Amanda F. Smith, in 1909, and they had six sons. She died 1929, at age 35, leaving small children. He then married Virgie McGuire who survived him.
His sons: Floyd Ivy, 1911-1996 Colo); Marvin Metz, (1913-1991); Martin Vernon, (1918- ); John Willie; Walton; and Harmon Barnett. Harmon was just a small child, and John Ivy's sister, Luvada, only had one child, and wanted to help her brother with his children, and she took 'the baby' Harmon, and later, he wanted to stay with his Aunt and Uncle. They raised him and he always looked to them as his parents, although he knew and visited his bio/family.
