Her husband, notorious leader of La Sociedad de Bandido, Vincente Silva, ordered five members of his gang, also known as "The Forty Bandits" to murder her. They stabbed her to death, but decided they were not paid enough, so shot Vincente to death on May 19, 1893. Neither of the Silva's deaths were discovered for two years by the locals.
