James H (Jim) Snyder, 74 of Taylor, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home in Taylor.

He was born in Canton, Ohio on August 13, 1941, the son of Henry L Snyder and A. Alberta (Barnes) Snyder.

Funeral services for Jim will be Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor. Visitation will be Monday, November 2, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Jim spent his early years in Bremen, IN, graduating from Bremen High School in 1959, after which he joined the US Air Force serving as an air frame mechanic from 1959-1963.

On September 21, 1963 Jim married Judi Schlecht in Big Spring, TX.

He graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor in Education and Master degree in Education from Purdue University. He taught elementary school in Lakeville and Griffith, IN and became a principal of Lakeville Elementary.

In 1977 he joined the staff of Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, attended the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1979, where he received the Bill Pierce award for professionalism and was a member of Pi Sigma Eta. In 1986 he became manager of the funeral home and held that position until his retirement in 2007.

Jim was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as an Elder, Usher, and vice chairman of the Congregation and a church representative for Thrivent, he was also a member of the Taylor Lions Club, and had been a member of Williamson County Child Fatality Review Board, TFDA, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, TISD Board Member, Habitat for Humanity Volunteer, and Mentor at Taylor Middle School.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Judi; 3 children: Jeff (Jo) Snyder and Jon (Julie) Snyder of Taylor and Jodi (Jason) Hahn of Burnet. 4 grandchildren: Jeremy and Jenna Snyder and Jordan and James Hahn. Brother, Dave (Kathy) Snyder of Grand Rapids, MI and sister, June (Bob) Hamman of Bremen, IN.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or charity of choice.
