Dixie was the youngest of the children born to Levi & Lucretia Coston. Dixie was almost two when her daddy died. Two years after her marriage to Ira Maddox, their first daughter was born but only lived three months. Their second daughter was born two years later. Dixie was "doing the wash" in the big kettle on the blazing fire in the back yard when her skirt caught fire. She died from her injury and left a beautiful nine month old daughter. I knew and loved that daughter. She was a remarkable lady who thanked God daily for her wonderful husband and devoted children.
