MRS. POE

LAFAYETTE -- Mrs. Rubye Singer Poe, 80, of LaFayette died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 at LaFayette Extended Care in LaFayette.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette with the Revs. Bill Hand and Charles Whitson officiating. Burial followed in LaFayette City Cemetery.

Mrs. Poe is survived by two daughters, Madeline (Leon) Lashley and Debby (Crew) Gleaton, both of LaFayette; four grandchildren, Chip Lashley of Montgomery, Ala., Lee Ann (Alan) Hurd of Newnan, Ga., Scott Gleaton and Bryan Gleaton, both of LaFayette; and one great-grandchild, Kyle Lashley of Newnan.

Born Feb. 9, 1920 in Selma, Ala., Mrs. Poe was a homemaker. She also drove the Commission on Aging Bus for Chambers County. She was a member of First Baptist Church of LaFayette. She was the adopted daughter of the late Ernest Abraham Singer and Genie James Singer.
