Norman Allen Brauda, 70 (b. 24 Sep 1931), of Hortense died early Tuesday morning (1 Jan 2002) at his residence after a long illness.

A native of Hortense, Mr. Brauda was a retired boilermaker and had worked with Babcock & Wilcox Boiler Co. in Brunswick. He was the son of Henry Wallace Brauda and Alma Creola Sloan Brauda, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Leon Brauda, a half-sister, Stella Loper; and three half-brothers, Alton, John and Lester Brauda.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Stiles Brauda of Hortense; a daughter, Bonnie Herrin of Nahunta; a son, Ronnie Brauda, Sr. of Hortense, four grandsons, Jason and Jeremy Herrin, both of Nahunta, Ronnie Brauda Jr. of Cherry Point, NC and Brandon Brauda of Brunswick; one great-grandson, David Brauda of Brunswick; two brothers, Henry Brauda of Brunswick, and Claude Brauda of Hortense; two sisters, Mattie Sackman of Cheyenne, WY, and Barbara Bennett of Jacksonville, FL; one half-sister, Vera Jones Jackson, of Callahan, FL; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, from the chapel of Chambless Funeral Home in Nahunta with Charles Brauda officiating. Burial followed at the Satilla Cemetery in Hortense.

Pallbearers were Jason and Jeremy Herrin, J.R. Brandon, Jonathan and Andrew Brauda.
