Valentine Cooley-Nelson Day, age 86 of Cantonment, formally of Jay, Florida died on Saturday September 8, 2007.
She attended Bay Springs Full Gospel Church of Walnut Hill and loved Gospel Music. She loved everyone she met and never met a stranger. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Inez Cooley; first husband Riley Nelson and late husband, Arthur Leigh Day; her son, Wayne Nelson; sisters, Bonnie, Maudell, and Gaynelle; and brothers, Charles and Woodrow.
She is survived by her son, Charles "Chuck" (Pat) Day of Brewton; daughters, Denise (Andy) Lollie of Cantonment and Odelia Clark of Macon, Georgia; one brother, Mallory (Luellen) Cooley of Jay; sisters, Merle Wright of Pensacola and Shula Faye Smith of Monroe Louisiana; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 6-9 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2007 at Jay Funeral Home with the Rev. Manuel Bennett, Rev. James Baker, and the Rev. Shelton Osmon officiating services.
Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Phillips officiating.
Pallbearers will be William Ray Phillips, Randy Cooley, Justin Nowling, Bruce Clark, Butch Clark, Charles William Day and Lawayne Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Cooley, Anthony Lollie, Eddie Wayne Lollie, Troy Lollie and Joe Dee White Phillips.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all family, friends and Sacred Heart Hospital for the care given to Valentine.
A benefit will be held for her and any donations can be made to Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union.
