Perry Allen Moore, well known Taos artist and retired educator, died Friday morning, Jan 27, at Holy Cross Hospital where he had been taken for treatment of an ailment. Mr. Moore had been in apparent good health until he was stricken Thursday, Jan 26.

Funeral services were held at Hanlon Evergreen Chapel, Monday Jan 30, at 2pm with the Rev. John J Marse, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Internment was in Sierra Vista with the following serving as pallbearers: Charles Reynolds, C G Harryman, Frank Chase, Fred Miller, A J Van Cleave, Charles Reynolds Jr, Joe Medina and Herschel Colbert, all of Taos.

Mr. Moore was born in Rose City, Michigan, on Nov 4 1886. He came to Taos in 1948 after retiring from the faculty of Texas A&M College of which he was a member since 1927. He belonged to the Harris Co. Artist Association of Artists, winning a prize in the Harris Co Competition.

2020: The MOORE tombstones continue to be buried deep under a spreading juniper - it is located right at the entrance to the cemetery.
