Dee Dubard Dies; Funeral Services Set for Friday
DEATH AT 1 o'clock this morning claimed D. S. Dubard, widely known Lake Charles busines man, at his residence, 1155 Hodges street, following a brief illness of approximately a week's duration.
Dee Dubard was 64 years old, having been born in Kosciusko county, Mississippi, in 1873. He came to Lake Charles in 1910 from Crowley where he had first removed from his Mississippi birthplace. In Lake Charles, Dubard served one term on the city police force after which he began to engage in the taxi and transfer business, ceased active operation of his auto livery concern two years ago, when he started dealing in explosives.
Surviving Dubard are his wife, the former Mrs. Beulah Daniel of Angelton, Texas, two daughters, Miss Estelle Dubard and Mrs. Winfred Spell, one sister, Mrs. E. J. Allen *(Maude Estelle Dubard Allen), one brother., *(Josiah Steele Dubard) J. S. Dubart, one granddaughter, Betty Jean Spell all of Lake Charles, and one step-daughter, Miss Norma Daniel of Angleton, Texas.
FUNERAL FRIDAY
Funeral Services are set for Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Dubard residence with the Rev. G. B. Hines officiating. Pallbearers will be: Paul Baker, Dudley McCoy, W. M. Thompson, Roy Andrews, Lloyd Andrews and Bill Atkins.
Honorary pallbearers named by Dubard's family include: Parish Coroner Dr. E. L. Clements, Sheriff Henry A. Reid, W. T. Burton of Sulphur, Captain Weston Fanguy, Postmaster J. Horace Lyons, N. E. North, City Police Chief E. E. Baggett, Harry Woosley, T. L. Huber, Dr. R. G. Holcombe and W. J. S. Harmon, all of Lake Charles, and Kinney Reid of Crowley.
Interment is to be in Orange Grove cemetery with Burke Funeral Home in charge.
EARLY TAXI OPERATOR
The deceased was among the first to engage in the ten-cent taxi business here when both street cars and busses were discontinued by the local utilities company. Dubard engaged in trucking to a considerable extent, his vehicles carrying loads of goods throughout the state.
Throughout his life Dubard kept up a lively interest in public affairs.
