Mr. and Mrs. Hünefeld immigrated in 1837, husband and wife on ship manifest. Their oldest son, Wilhelm Heinrich Huenefeld, was born in Cincinnati, OH, 6 June 1838 and baptized June 10; see birth and baptism image entered to right. The family remained in Cincinnati area through 1840 for a daughter, Christine Elisabethe, was born there:
baptism in St. John's German Protestant Church (LDS Film 1510039): Christine Elisabethe Hünefeld, b. 5 Oct 1840, bapt. 18 Oct 1840. Her parents were Willh. Hünefeld & Christ. Elisabethe and sponsers, Heinrich Brinkmaier & Christ. Elisabeth ?. This little daughter died sometime prior to 1850 for she was not present in the 1850 Huenefeld household, Warren County, MO.
The Reverend John Koenig, a grandson of Wilhelm Huenefeld, reported that Wilhelm first worked as a carpenter in St. Louis prior to purchasing a farm approximately three miles north of Holstein. On March 18, 1850, Wilhelm Huenefeld purchased land from Henry and Catherine Tamm in Warren County for $113: The North West fract. quarter of North West quarter of Section No 9, Township No. 45, Range 2 West, containing twenty nine and 6/100 acres. It was on this land that he was killed in a wagon wreck according to family information.
A Founding Father of the church in 1839, Mr. Hünefeld was buried in the oldest cemetery: First Cemtery. After Wilhelm's death in 1852, his widow, Christine, married William Brüggenjohann 11 Mar 1864.
