Services for William Redus, retired editorial page editor for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Harveson & Cole Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Redus, 79, died Tuesday in Harris Hospital, Fort Worth, after recently suffering a massive heart attack.

Redus was a native of the Texas Panhandle and received a degree in English and journalism from the University of Missouri. He joined the Star-Telegram as a police reporter in 1929, eventually moving into other assignments. In 1946 he became an editorial writer specializing in politics and government.

Recognized for his incisive viewpoints, Redus was an editorial writer for 26 years, including 15 years as editorial page editor, before retiring in 1972.

He was a former president of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists-Sigma Delta Chi. He also served as reporter for the men's Bible Class at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church.
