In 1954, Jeffcoat made the adjustment from outfielder to pitcher and recorded 12 victories in 1957. He had 487 hits with a .248 lifetime batting average. In 245 games as a pitcher, Jeffcoat won 39 and lost 37 with a 4.22 lifetime era. He died of complications from a stroke.
