Carlton "Sonny" Jackson, Jr., 63, died Monday morning, March 13, 2006 in the Wesleyan Nursing Home in Georgetown. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Dr. Bill Jones of Georgetown officiating. Burial followed in the Salty Cemetery near Rockdale.
Mr. Jackson was born June 20, 1942 in Port Arthur to Carlton Jackson and Juanita Moye Jackson.
He was a resident of the Salty Community for 30 years. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. He worked for Salvation Army in Port Arthur for five years.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father on March 1, 1991.
Survivors include his mother, Juanita Jackson of Georgetown; two brothers, Reagan Jackson and wife Claire of Georgetown and Lynn Jackson and wife Becky of Denton; nieces and nephews, Kerstin Garbs of Caldwell, April Barnes of Denver, CO, Daniel Jackson of Grandbury and Stephen Jackson of Denton; great nieces, Isabel Barnes of Denver, CO and Sarah Jackson of Denton.
Pallbearers included Jacob Loftin, Will Barnes, Greg Garbs, Stephen Jackson, Douglas Caffey and John Fisher.
