Peoria Journal Star, June 14, 1973

ALTA – Homer Pierce, 71, of Alta died at 11:40 a.m. yesterday in Proctor Hospital at Peoria.

He was born March 9, 1902 in Princeville, a son of Theodore and Agatha Harrison Pierce. He married Mabel Kent Oct. 4, 1930 in Peoria.

Surviving are his widow; a son, Larry of Falls Church, Va.; a granddaughter; two brothers, Robert of Peoria and Fremont of Galva; and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Mabel) Aldrich of Peoria.

Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

He had been a transport driver for oil companies.

He was master of Alta and Peoria County granges and a member of Alta Masonic Lodge and attended the Alta Presbyterian Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bouton-Hammitt-Davison Funeral Home, Dunlap, Pastor Robert Deugan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hawley Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 8.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
