Susan Annie Elizabeth Leatherwood (this is the name on her Texas death certificate) was the daughter of Henry Pitts and Nancy (Abernethy?). The family moved from Mississippi to Hunt Co. TX about 1861. Susan and Z.W. Leatherwood married in Hunt Co. on 20 Jan 1870. They then moved to Harrison Co. TX and by 1880 had moved to Erath Co. They were related by marriage: Z.W.'s older sister Eveline had married John Miles Pitts (Susan's half uncle) in 1850 in Shelby Co. AL. The Leatherwood & Pitts families had been neighbors in that county in the 1840's & 1850's. (Marriage is transcribed in "Marriage Records of Hunt Co. TX, 1846-1880" by Frances Ingmire, 1976. It is indexed as "Eatherwood, Zerl" on p.12 of the book.)
Oldest daughter Permelia Eveline Leatherwood married Jesse T. Sweeden. She passed on 21 March 1930 and is supposed to be buried in Proctor, Comanche Co. TX.
