Mary Edna R. Ellfors
A retired English teacher and librarian at Shady Grove High School in Iberville Parish with 42 years of service, she passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Grace Home in Shreveport. She was 89, a resident of Shreveport, a longtime resident of Maringouin and a native of Donner. Visiting at Rosedale United Methodist Church in Rosedale on Monday, Aug. 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until funeral service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jeremy Jones. Interment in Rosedale Cemetery. She is survived by her three sisters, Alice R. Schmitt, Jacquelyn R. Harvill and husband Stafford, and Gwendolyn R. Leonard McDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a very special great-nephew, Beau Quin Greene. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Henry P. Ellfors; parents, Luther and Eola Roark; brothers, Vernon E. Roark and Stuart M. Roark; and a sister, Vestal R. Breedlove. Pallbearers will be Mark Greene, Dr. Thomas Greene, Dr. Craig Greene, Donald Greene, Beau Greene and Dr. Michael Leonard. She graduated from Natchitoches High school and held a bachelor of arts degree in English and Latin from Louisiana State Normal College (now Northwestern State University). She also did graduate study at LSU in English and library science. She had a great love for music and played the piano and organ for the Rosedale United Methodist Church for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rosedale United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen.
