Gladys Eleanor Couchman, 79, of 10315 Balsam Rd., Harrison, died Saturday, Sept. 30, in the Gladwin Area Hospital. Born in Otter Lake on April 22, 1899, she came to Hamilton Township in April 1957 from Detroit. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gladwin. The former Gladys Farrell, she was married to William Couchman on February 17, 1920, in Flint. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1955, in Gladwin.
Surviving are 2 grandchildren, Mrs. Joanne Beebe of St. Clair Shores and Robert Barnowsky of Warren; and 8 great grandchildren. A daughter, Eleanor Barnowsky, preceded her in death in March 1961.
Rites were held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Joseph Castanier officiated and burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Mathews Funeral- Home. Gladwin County Record dated 10-4/1978 Column – 3 Page – 2.
