Wilfrid J Turba, loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully on the property that was settled by his great-great grandfather, at N9617 Turba Court, Elkhart Lake on Aug 18, 2005.
He was born in the town of Russell, Sheboygan Co on Jan 18, 1928, to the late Edmund & Josephine Daun Turba.
He farmed all his life and served as Wisconsin State Assemblyman for the 27th Assembly District from 1982-1992. He served for 33 years as a 4-H general leader. He was active in the Farm Bureau both locally and on the Wisconsin State Board of Directors. He also served on the State Board of the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Wilfrid was an active member of the Sheboygan County Republican Party.
He was a 1945 graduate of New Holstein High School; and later served as a member and president of the New Holstein School Board for 21 years. He also served as a lector and choir member of St Ann Catholic Church in St Anna, WI. Wilfrid was a member of the Catholic Knights, Branch 223, St Ann.
Wilfrid was married to his first wife, Leona (Boll) on May 2, 1950. She preceded him in death on Dec 28, 1995. On Dec 30, 1996, he married Mary Jane Fellenz-Brunmeier. She survives him along with her two daughters, Mary Hansen and Sharon Anhalt. Wilfrid is further survived by his nine children: four sons, James (Jean Tyrell) Turba, Minooka, IL; Jerry (Judy) Turba, De Pere; Michael (Patricia) Turba, Platteville; David (Annika) Turba, Elkhart Lake; five daughters, Mary (Mark) Finger, Luxemburg; Sister Anne Turba, O.S.F., Manitowoc; Dr Rose Turba, (Dan), Green Bay; Joan Turba, Green Bay and nineteen grandchildren. Further survivors include his two brothers; Robert (Doris) Turba, New Holstein, Kenneth (Lydia) Turba, Elkhart Lake, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
