Wayne Martinez was a Corrections Guard for the Wyoming State Prison in Cheyenne, Wyoming, as a Corporal. He served 7 years for the Department of Corrections, dying in the line of duty at age 27. A couple of inmates gained control to the Shift Commanders Office in an escape attempt. They attacked Corporal Martinez, beating him and stabbing him three times. The suspects fled in a truck, but was stopped by Guards at the Exterior Fence when they opened fire on them. Corporal Martinez was survived by his wife, four daughters, one son, and his parents.
