OBITUARY: VIRGIL CAMPBELL
Rotan-Virgil D. Campbell, 73, of Rotan died at 11 a.m. Monday at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene after a long illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Weathersbee Chapel.
The Rev. Jeff Langley, pastor of the Highland Baptist Church of Sweetwater, will officiate. Burial will be at Rotan Cemetery.
Born April 16, 1907, in Terry, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward D. Campbell. He moved to Fisher County as a small child from Terry County. He married Agnes Marie Patterson in 1934 in Rotan. He was a farmer. Campbell was a member of the Hobbs Baptist Church. He moved to Mineral Wells in 1952 and returned to Rotan in 1974.
His wife died November 15, 1940.
Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Weldon (Ann) Kinsey of Sweetwater; two brothers, R.O. of Rotan, and Dono fo Sweetwater; four sisters, Bessie Early of Perrie,CA, Tricie Cohe of Sweetwater, Ludora Neeley of Rotan, and Tishey Bradley of Lubbock; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas in 1977. Nephews will be pallbearers.
